PC Security The Facts

What is PC Security?

PC security is the overall secure aspect of the machine, it is possible for the operating system as well as the software on the computer to have vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities are basically flaws in the original code on computer software that create weaknesses in the overall security of the computer or network the software is installed on. They can also be created by improper computer or security configurations. Threats exploit the weaknesses of vulnerabilities resulting in potential damage to the computer or personal data.

How can you spot a Vulnerability?

Usually the company will announce a vulnerability when they are discovered and will work quickly to fix or patch the vulnerabilities with a released update.

Keep software and security patches up to date - this is a must as most of the vulnerabilities occur because the latest fix's or patches have not been applied and they are exploited by malicious software or individuals.

Configure the security settings for the operating system, internet browser and security software on the computer.

Use an active personal security policy for online behavior, a safe surfing policy and file download management policy.

Install a proactive security solution to highlight and block any threats that may target vulnerabilities
